We are traceable to the very beginnings of the universe, our ancestral origins stretching across the Milky Way to the atoms burning inside of us in the ‘here and now’ on earth. Trace is a highly kinetic contemporary dance work inspired by Indigenous (Anishinaabe) sky and star stories, offering a glimpse into our origin as well as our future evolution.

Winner of two Dora Mavor Moore Awards and nominated for four Dora Awards.

Original commission and in association with Canadian Stage.

World premiere at Canadian Stage in November 2018. US premiere at Jacob’s Pillow in August 2019.

"I became an instant fan not only because of the company’s unique Indigenous approach to contemporary dance but also because of the breathtaking artistry and sheer physicality of their performance."

"The piece is performed by seven dancers...and the piece’s choreographer, Jera Wolfe; who exude power, grace, and jaw-dropping agility in equal measure."

"I always leave Red Sky’s performances feeling like I’ve been taken on an exhilarating journey. Showcasing all of the company’s strengths: the power, grace and originality of the dance paired with evocative original music and perfectly blended the other design elements; Trace is a journey I’d embark on again any time."
